Juliette is a Golden retriever breeder for ICAN (Indiana Canine Assistant Network). Hopefully all these puppies will have the health and temperament to become assistance dog trainees in 8 weeks time.

1 week old
1 week old, and Juliette and pups are doing quite well. I am currently identifying them with dabs of nontoxic pain on their rumps. Weights range from 1 lb 5 oz (Orange girl) to 1 lb 11 oz (yellow Purple girl). With this weight range, it is a challenge keeping everyone fed. I plan to start bottle feeding tonight - weights gains are at the low end and the pups are starting to get a bit fussy at night. Juliette had a minor GI upset this weekend (very normal post whelp), so I haven't been able to increase her food amount as rapidly as I would have liked. But she is now fine, and has a very hearty appetite. BioSensor exercises continue on a daily basis. The pups have lost their pronounced newborn startle reflex when touched, and now seem to enjoy being stroked. It is very relaxing to sit in the puppy pool with a lap full of puppies. My adult dogs are returning home from dog sitters. Yuma was dropped off last night, and Juliette had no issues with Yuma in the house. Great grandma Yuma gave the pups one quick sniff, and was less than impressed. She always has been a bit indifferent about puppies, even when they were her own. I expect Auntie Tacara, my German shepherd, will be delighted to discover we have puppies in the house again.
