Juliette is a Golden retriever breeder for ICAN (Indiana Canine Assistant Network). Hopefully all these puppies will have the health and temperament to become assistance dog trainees in 8 weeks time.

5 days old
The pups are getting stronger and more mobile, and I am comfortable that we are past the high risk for smoothered puppies or lost/chilled pups. The pups have perfected the art of scooching and Juliette is doing a great job of carefully stepping around everyone. The big challenge is keeping 11 puppies fed. Juliette's milk production is still not up to what I would like to see. I anticipate starting bottle feeding Tuesday or Wednesday. Purple (yellow) girl is Big Bertha, already weighing in at 1 1/2 lbs, and the bigger pups are outgrowing their elastic hairband collars. With private nursing, the little pups are doing OK, but easily pushed aside by their bigger sibs. Juliette is already having second thoughts about being a full time stay-at-home mom, and is craving people time and silly Golden games. I let her go out for a brief game of fetch yesterday.
