The big tub is getting rather crowded these days. Some of the pups are wearing "big dog" snap collars.
The pups approve of the new living accomodations, and the little litter box/pan is getting a lot of use. The pups started reacting to sounds a couple of days ago, so they are fully functional little pupsters. They are much more interactive, trying out their little puppy barks and growls, mouth wrestling, and crawling into laps. After being bottle fed and hand fed canned food, they are eager for human interaction. We have introduced them to the sensation of a soft brush, and the last couple of warm days, they have had very brief introductions to the great outdoors. Just tonight, I saw some of the larger pups successfully nurse from Juliette when she was standing. Juliette is not nearly as interested in the puppies, mostly just doing a speed nursing session and then bailing. But she relishes all the extra chow. The other dogs (and the cats) have been going into the puppy pen. This morning we had our first 4 pounder (Harmony weighed in at 4 lbs 2 oz). The smallest pups (Jazz and Melody) weighed 3 lbs 9 oz. The pups gained over 1 lb each last week.
